It was previously reported that wrestling legend "The Crippler" Ray Stevens was to be inducted into the 2015 WWE Hall of Fame due to his ties to the Bay Area but plans have now since changed and he won't be receiving an induction this year despite being a "done deal" just over a week ago.
The reason for not inducting him this year may have something to do with the fact he passed in 1996 and with Randy Savage being an already deceased headline name WWE didn't want another name who wasn't alive inducted this year.
Stevens was best known for his ability to draw heat during matches and was often looked up to as a pioneer of being able to draw large crowds as a heel. During his brief stint in WWE he h was managed by "Classy" Freddie Blassie. Stevens turning on Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka in 1982. Stevens also briefly did color commentary alongside Vince McMahon in 1984.
