WNS Fans View: E/Anomaly - How booking should be done!
Posted By: Daniel Barker on Oct 05, 2013
Foolish fans such as I believe that the consumer money should influence how a product is presented and developed to the buyer. Typically in a ideal World which being an extremely fictitious concept; we would receive low quality for small prices and higher quality through larger pricing. Welcome to 2013, there's a constant never ending recession that's followed by a broken record stating that moneys gotten tight and that's why everything's turned bone idle. World Wrestling Entertainment are in a bloated position that opportunities to gain financially are handed to them on a silver platter, any sponsor worth their salt will throw cash at them to have a performer with dashed dreams flaunt merchandise during an immensely awkward and grotesquely written segment.
The above paragraph truly defines a normal day, the remaining column really hits on a current headache that is the upcoming WWE PPV Battleground! Straight out the fire can I just say how absolutely withdrawn I am to see Survivor Series continuing to take priority even with a brand new event airing beforehand. Whoever manages the business's marketing must honestly take a look from the outside gazing inwards because the reaction would be pure terror. Here we have a company attempting to jump buy rates yet fumble at making any real effort to broaden the content to suite the price. It's a massive fact that countless fans illegally stream the shows, a portion on the other hand cannot justify the cost as a jaded counter argument. Where's the sense in forking out the cash to witness Battleground or Hell in a Cell when the business focuses extra priority to another show that boasts the same price tag?
What am I looking forward too at Battleground? I do somewhat care about the CM Punk & Ryback and the Rhodes family situation. It's a given that the main event for the WWE title has captured at least a fraction of intrigue because that's the key focus which the creative are not looking so dynamic with lately. Overall nothing at all screams to me that I must watch & buy WWE Battleground, I feel everything so far promoting it was just going through the motions. Don't get me wrong I do strongly admire the few stand out talents that are trying their best to snag attention, guys like Paul Heyman & CM Punk are making TV that extra edgy. What makes those efforts stand out so much is that there's not enough lately. I won't go on a rant about the way things were back in the day, I do wish to state that WWE by all rights needs to move forward and grow. The available audience is the largest it's ever been and yet ratings are appearing a struggle.
Battleground through it's own design instantly gets overshadowed thanks to Survivor Series. Having the two main championship main events repeated from the last PPV downgrades any promise it could have of striking a unique impression. This Monday Night on RAW I saw Rob Van Dam deliver a not so smooth promo about his hardcore title rematch to challenge the World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio. I've always loved RVD yet it must be said that there upcoming bout certainly measures up as mid card. We the fans are anticipating Rob Van Dam to leave on a brief hiatus shortly, Alberto Del Rio leaving Champion is the likelihood. Regardless who wins or loses nothing can salvage this wasted match, the talent isn't to blame in the equation here. I cannot personally envision them two being a draw at this moment in time, it's a slot that would be better used for another purpose that has meaning.
Whenever WWE introduces a new name to the pro wrestling schematic the intention should surround how it's established. Idealistically you want to book a strong showing for a new event so the following year people will want to see it twice as much. I'd also like to state that the name itself Battleground would intelligently match the current situation on RAW better than the creative plans are leading on. Battleground to me indicates a clash of a great magnitude, on the television programming were seeing a conflicted power struggle over the entire landscape. It's hilarious because as much as the WWE attempts to make it a big deal they falter because aspects that should sell the storyline are rigidly moving along. If this critic was in charge I'd make an effort to give the viewers an impression of a constant vice grip throughout the company, on every show and show little hints in segments that don't relate to the main feud.
Triple H's & the the McMahons tyrannical reign across the WWE is like a switch that's flicked on and off at a mere whim, a sure method to prevent the importance investing an impression on a persons interest. With Battleground around the corner we want that as a moment to see everyone go all out and wage war for the locker-rooms best interests. The most prioritized match on the entire card is just a rehash, the Rhodes family facing the Shield already pencils in a predictable victory as the tag team championships are excluded from contention. These two are the top usages WWE creative can sell the storyline for a brand new PPV concept - amongst a card that has a lackluster World title defense, an Intercontinental defense with a contender who's made weak entering the feud and two top talents opening the show for free!
The big four Pay Per Views deserve a specialized approach to show a must-see showing, that doesn't mean other events are appropriate to bypass with a half-hearted attempt to progress the script. If WWE put in there all then the audience would appreciate the effort as it would become evident in the quality of the card. Logically money goes to where interest lies, falling numbers represent most the time that what's available isn't capturing what you had previously. People don't want to wait every three months to get a decent wrestling fix, if somethings available once a month then they want their fill. We respect Wrestlemania is the biggest show of the year yet that doesn't mean Elimination Chamber can't exhibit an exhilarating experience.
World Wrestling Entertainment lacks a killer instinct, they're overly content through allowing things to pan out. A company does possess an insane amount of resources, many of those are withering to waste. I cannot remember the last time I saw a fan in person or on the internet getting excited for any other PPV than Wrestlemania since Money in the Bank 2011.
