During a recent interview with Title Match Wrestling, WWE Champion AJ Styles took the opportunity to discuss a number of different topics, one of those being the reason why he left Impact Wrestling to join New Japan Pro Wrestling, then WWE.
Styles revealed that the reason had to do with Impact Wrestling cutting his pay by over 60%, and also discussed why the move wasnât fair to his family.
Below is what Styles had to say:
âI think that saying 60% is being generous, to be honest with you. Thatâs kinda crazy  when thatâs the first offer you know like, âwait what! That doesnât make any sense! Iâve worked here for 11 years and hard for 11 years. I havenât gotten less popular here in TNA, in fact gotten more popular, especially in the last year, so I donât know whatâs going on.â I am a family man. Thatâs my job, and my job is to take care of them. You donât know how much I made, or how less I made. But if you are going to take a pay cut at your job, Iâm gonna take a pay cut at my job. But think about that! Because youâve got mouths to feed.â
