Remembering the Death and Legacy of Dusty Rhodes Two Years Later

I just want to take a moment to remember the late, great WWE HOF'er Dusty Rhodes. He passed away 2 years ago at the age of 69. The son of a plumber was the common man that we all wanted to see. The American Dream was extremely popular in the 70's all the way up to his unfortunate death in 2015.

The legacy of Dusty Rhodes is unique from any other entertainer that we have seen in the squared circle. He was not only a great in ring worker, but he had charisma that put him in a class of his own. He would back up any of his classic promos with classic matches. He literally left his blood and sweat in the ring night after night. He could have road away into the sunset at any time, but he loved the business so much that he continued to give it life. He was a booker, trainer, and a teacher. There are countless wrestlers and even more people in every capacity of the business that name Dusty Rhodes as an inspiration as well as their biggest teacher.

Dusty never had a problem sticking out. With his crazy hats and robes, his famous struts, and electrifying punches... not to mention the most effective elbow we have ever seen in the ring. He was one of Ric Flair's greatest rivals as well as one of his greatest idols. He had other classic battles with the likes of Superstar Billy Graham, Terry Funk, Harley Race, and many others.

No matter what he accomplished in the ring he topped on the mic. He is a easily top 3 wrestler on the mic. He gave us classic promos. Everyone remembers the hard times promo, and I doubt it will ever be forgotten. When you think of other great talkers names like Roddy Piper and Ric Flair come to mind, but they credit Rhodes as inspiration.

He worked in every aspect in the business, and excelled. Dusty Rhodes was truly one of the greatest minds to have ever graced the business. He was a great booker, producer, writer, manager, and even his own unique brand of commentating.

Even up until the year that Dusty Rhodes passed away he was still impacting the business. He continued to work with NXT and help develop the tomorrow of the business we all love. He left behind a second generation in the likes of Cody Rhodes and Goldust who are still entertaining all over the world. Dusty has left an ultimate legacy and many memories for us to always remember. Professional wrestling will continue to walk in the his footprints for many years to come. Thank you Dusty.
