WWE NXT Results (31/08)

Hey there wrestling fans,

My name is TJ Clair, and i am your new WWE NXT Play-by-play columnist. I will bring you the details to the upcoming episode of NXT. Welcome to the next generation, and thanks for reading!

The show begins with a segment taped earlier in the night with William Regal, Samoa Joe and a doctor. The doctor advises William that Samoa Joe has not mentioned previous injuries, among his broken jaw, and is not cleared to wrestle tonight, or anytime soon. Joe leaves.

Corey Graves and Tom Phillips welcomes us to the show, and lets us know that The King of Strong Style, and new NXT Champion, Shinsuke Nakamura, will be there tonight. They also said that the show was perfect. That sets up the entrance to "The Perfect 10" Tye Dillinger. He fought Wesley Blake last week, and this week, he faces Buddy Murphy as he makes his way out.

Tye Dillinger vs. Buddy Murphy

They lock up, while the crowd is chanting "One" and "You're a Zero" to Buddy Murphy. Irish whip and multiple leap frogs and drops before Tye hits MUrphy with an Inverted Atomic Drop. Tye taunts him but runs into a back elbow before Murphy taunts him back.

Tye sets him up on the turnbuckle for the 10 punches, but Murphy reverses and drops Tye to the ground. Running shoulder tackle to the face, and went for a pinfall and a two count. They exchange chops and Murphy sends Tye flying out of the ring. Buddy follows him back him and goes to the top, and hits a double knee to a standing Tye, and gets a 2 count only. We get treated to a commercial break.
Back from break, Murphy still has control of the match. Tye gets sent to the ropes but reverses a throw over the ropes to the outside, and Murphy attempts another second rope jump but Tye hits him in the gut. He hits a high Back Drop. Mudhole Stomp and ducks a clothesline and hits his move "The Tye Breaker", and a three count.

Your winner: Tye Dillinger

After the match, we are shown a segment of NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn, where Johnny Gargano was hurt in his match with The Revival, and after, his loss in the Cruiserweight Classics.

Next up, Tomasso Ciampa is being interviewed regarding Johnny Gargano, when The Revival showed up, and a brawl started, but Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder took him to the announce table and the ring and made quick work of him. Dawson took to the mic, and says Ciampa and Gargano were faced with reality. They faced the top guys and it was a reality check. Tomasso heads back to the ring, as the crowd was chanting "Psycho Killer'. The Revival hit their finisher "Shatter Machine" and left the ring.

Another commercial promoting the Cruiserwight Classic.
Once again, we are shown the attack from The Revival to Tomasso Ciampa. Up next, we get Steve Cutler making his way out to the ring. He is shown doing a promo, saying he doesn't care if we like him, but we will respect him. he faces Kenneth Crawford.

Steve Cutler vs. Kenneth Crawford

They tie up and Steve quickly takes Kenneth down and grabs him in an armbar. Goes to hit a Back Body Drop, but Kenneth jumps high and lands on his feet and gets his own arm drag and armbar to Cutler. Cutler throws him into the turnbuckle and gets a One count. Steve is showing a rougher side and choking Kenneth on the rope. Gets another pinfall and one count.
Crawford tries to get out of a headlock and hits some elbows but Cutler keeps retaliating. Kenneth hits a standing Shooting Star Press. Two count only. Cutler reverses and his his finisher, a Fisherman into a Falcon-Arrow, and gets a three count.

Your Winner: Steve Cutler

We are backstage for an interview with Hideo Itami. Hideo says he hit him with his sockless loafers. He says he is disappointed that Austin his hurt with a busted ear drum, and he is supposed to be a real man. He says to step up or he will put him to sleep.

We see a recap of NXT: TakeOver Dallas for Nakamura's first match, against Sami Zayn. A true classic! We are reminded that Shinsuke Nakamura will be there later.

We get the same "Sanity" vignette that we saw at NXT: Brooklyn II. We then get a video package of TM61's Shane Thorne and Nick Miller. We are now sent back to the ring to the entrance of No Way Jose. He faces Angelo Dawkins. I have no idea what he trying to do during his entrance. It's confusing.

No Way Jose vs. Angelo Dawkins

The bell rings. Huge No Way Jose chants, as Jose dances around and Angel grabs him into a headlock and a tackle. He looks like he is mixing something. Arm Drag and Snapmare by Jose, but Angelo hits a clubbing forearm to his back. Another headlock. No Way Jose gets up and starts smacking Dawkins guts and his a tackle and his infamous pitching fist, and that Tango dance move into the Full Nelson Slam, and gets the three count.

Your Winner: No Way Jose

After the match, the interviewer attempts to interview Andrade about losing his first match to Bobby Roode, but was interupted by Austin Ares, saying he is disappointed because he keeps getting interupted but can't hear the crowd because of his busted ear. Andrade challenges him to a match next week, Austin says he can't hear him and leaves.

We get another video package of Shinsuke Nakamura, when he defeated Finn Balor. A third reminder that he will show up later. We get another commercial, about NXT Live events. So many commercial breaks for a WWE Network show.
Back from break, we get the entrance from Liv Morgan, and her opponent, Aliyah.

Liv Morgan vs. Aliyah

The match begins and Aliyah dominates quickly. She is the aggressor of this match, but gets caught in a Headscissor Takedown, and a Drop Toe Hold, but takes back the offense. She hit a side tunbuckle body press on Liv. Tries to go for a pinfall but Liv's feet were under the ropes. She moves and gets a one count. She puts her in a reverse Chicken Wing and Head scissor hold that looks pretty good. Liv gets out but Aliyah gets another immediate one count. Liv hits a dropkick and some clothesline and a faceplant. Kip up from Morgan, and hits a swinging side kick that seemed to have miss, but she got the three count.

Your Winner: Liv Morgan

Backstage, we get the interviewer catching up to No Way Jose, asking how he feels about his win tonight. He says at Takeover, he skipped a beat but he is getting back into it. Bobby Roode shows up, and says "Nice head!" and leaves.
We get another video package of Shinsuke Nakamura, this time at Brooklyn II when he won the NXT Championship from Samoa Joe. Another reminder of his appearance. The show is one hour, I doubt we would forget. We get a WWE '17 commercial.

They announced that next week on NXT, Tom Phillips will have a sit down interview with NXT Women's Champion, Asuka. We then get greeted by our new NXT Champion, Shinsuke Nakamura. The crowd is livey as usual and chanting his theme while he makes his way to the ring. Huge "Nakamura" and "You Deserve It" chants.

Nakamura spoke about wanting to face the best competition, and that there was but one place to go, NXT! "NXT" chants. He faced guys like Finn Balor and Samoa Joe, and now he is NXT Champion. He says he has respect for Samoa Joe, but his era is over. "We are now in the era of Strong Style!

His music hits and he poses for the crowd as the show ends.

**ANALYSIS**
This episode was heavily based on helping introduce newer talent, like Steve Cutler, Kenneth Crawford, Liv Morgan, Aliyah as well as enhancing the level of guys like Tye Dillinger and No Way Jose.
I felt that the matches were a bit short for my taste. We usually get one less match and a bit longer, so those matches felt a bit rushed, but they were good.

Top 3 Moments:
- Tye Dillinger winning. He will get to the main roster soon I hope!
- Aliyah's new Kamura/Headscissor lock is sick
- Liv Morgan Winning. Most of the top women are gone, and we need to establish new ones.

Worst 3 moments:
- Angelo Dawkins. I don't get what he was trying to do. His maneurisms made no sense to me,
- Too many Shinsuke video packages. We have a one-hour show, and they reminded us 4 or 5 times. He only got maybe 4 or 5 minutes to talk.
- Me! It's my first time doing play-by-play and I had to rewind a few times. Also, I never got the interviewer's name. Sorry!

Well that is all for tonight! Thank you for reading my first Results post!
Please don't forget to like, share and comment! I enjoy the comments, critical or not, and will participate!
