WWE NXT Results 3/16

Welcome to the WWE NXT Results for the 16th March 2016 show, that was broadcast on the WWE Network. It comes from Full Sail University and on the commentary booth are Tom Phillips and Corey Graves.

The show begins with a look back to last weeks 2 out of 3 falls match between Sami Zayn and Samoa Joe, where Joe won to become Number 1 Contender for the NXT Championship.

Out first this week is Sami Zayn, it doesn't look as if he'll be in a scheduled match and is just coming down for a promo. He grabs a mic and says that last week he came out and didn't just have a match - he went to war with Joe. It's normally humbling to come out and admit you came up short, but he's not embarassed by his performance. It could have went either way and they went for nearly one hour. His goal has not changed. He still wants to become the first ever 2 time NXT Champion. Zayn says Takeover Dallas will be huge and NXT will steal the show. He feels like a proud dad when it comes to NXT, and is then interruped by NXT GM William Regal.

Regal says Zayn deserves something very special at NXT Dallas. He deserves it. He will face one of the best in the world.

Sami Zayn will face Shinsuke Nakamura!

Nakamura appears on the screen but you can hardly make him out due to the pop from the fans. Zayn heads to the back looking confused, but pleased.

The Hype Bros are out now for a match and will be going up against two guys who never got an entrance or introduction.

The Hype Bros vs Kenneth Crawford and Angello Dawkins

Rawley gets the better of Crawford in the opening stages so he tags in Dawkins. Rawley has Dawkins cornered and flips him over before tagging in Ryder. Ryder dropkicks Dawkins and takes off both his headbands. Crawford goes to check on him and Ryder kicks them both. Dawkins gets the upperhand with a cheap move but Ryder pushes him face first down on the mat before tagging in Mojo. Discuss punch from Rawley before the two hit their finisher for the pinfall.

Winners: The Hype Bros
Time: 3:23

We are now seeing a clip from NXT superstars and women at the Arnold Classic 2016.

Dana Brooke and Emma are backstage and bump into Emma's opponent for the night, Deonna Purrazzo. The Emmalution can't stop and won't stop but Purrazzo says she will stop it tonight. Brooke and Emma mock her, before Brooke pats her on the head.

Emma vs Deonna Purrazzo

The two shove each other around a bit before Emma kicks Purrazzo in the gut and takes the upper hand. Emma stands on her hair and lifts her body up forcing the referee to break the hold. Emma then takes her down with a clothesline and you get the feeling she isn't taking Purrazzo seriously. The Australlian sits her opponent on the top rope and pulls her down before kicking her in the back. Emma hits her crossbody move and goes for the cover but Purrazzo kicks out. She is trying to start a comeback now and knocks Emma down. Emma is in the corner and Purrazzo runs at her, but Emma moves out of the way. She manages to take control again and ends up making her opponent tap out.

Winner: Emma
Time: 3:49

A clip is shown from Roadblock on Saturday night where The Revival defeated Enzo and Cass. Tonight The Vaudevillians will go up against American Alpha to determine a new number one contender for the Tag Team Championships.

Singles action up next as Tommaso Ciampa makes his way to the ring. He is facing Jesse Sorensen.

Tommaso Ciampa vs Jesse Sorensen

Ciampa goes straight for Sorensen and immediately grounds his opponent in the corner with a series of vicous knees. Ciampa picks him up but Sorensen gets out before being laid out with a massive clothesline for a near fall. He then gets Sorensen in a headlock in the middle of the ring. When he gets out of it, Sorensen drops Ciampa with a dropkick then a slap in the chest. He goes to the top rope and starts hitting Ciampa who manages to fight out and after some more vicious hits, makes Sorensen tap with an armbar.

Winner: Tommaso Ciampa
Time: 2:30

Coming up now we have women's tag team action, with Bayley and Asuka facing Nia Jax and Eva Marie.

Bayley and Asuka vs Nia Jax and Eva Marie

Bayley and Jax start the match off. Jax is on Bayley straight away and throws her to the floor before tagging in Marie. Eva laps up the boos and Bayley drops her to the mat and tags in Asuka. Eva tries to crawl away but Asuka doesn't let her. Eva hits Asuka but she just smiles and starts to knee her before delivering kicks to the chest. Bayley tags herself back in and then Jax makes a blindtag on Eva. Jax picks up Bayley and hits a samoan drop. Eva is back in the ring now and is trying to wear down Bayley. She fights her way out and rolls up Eva but she kicks out. Then, for no reason, Eva goes over and slaps Asuka. Suplex from Bayley on Eva. Jax then enters the ring and goes to legdrop the grounded Bayley but she rolls out the way and Eva receives it. Jax is thrown out to the floor and Bayley hits Bayley to Belly for the victory.

Winners: Bayley and Asuka

The two winners are in the ring celebrating when Regal comes back out.

He says Bayley sets the standard for what a champion in NXT should be. Asuka has elevated what already was a stand out division. So, he announces Bayley vs Asuka for the NXT Womens Championship at NXT Takeover Dallas.

Asuka looks at Bayley and smiles before heading to the back.

There's now an interview with Austin Aries. He says NXT is always where he wanted to be. When he was lying on the ground, Regal apologised for Corbin's actions. Aries said Regal didn't have to be sorry - but Corbin would. He is the greatest at what he does, Aries will teach us why he is the greatest man that has ever lived.

Up next is the Number 1 Contender match between American Alpha and The Vaudevillians.

American Alpha vs The Vaudevillians

Simon Gotch and Chad Gable kick things off. We see the usual quick paced wrestling from Gable in the early stages. Some great mat work from both guys. All 4 of them end up in the ring and American Alpha clear The Vaudevillains to the outside. When we come back from a commercial, Gotch has the upper hand on Gable. He makes a tag and they do a double team move on Gable. Gable fights his way out of a hold but is swiftly put back down before English locks in another hold. Gotch is tagged in and continues to wear down one half of American Alpha. English is back in and goes for a knee drop but Gable rolls out the way. He finally gets the tag to Jason Jordan and clears the two out with clotheslines, suplexes and dropkicks. American Alpha are going for their double team finisher but one of the Vaudevillians gets involved to break it up. Brilliant German suplex from Gable for a nearfall. Jordan then gives Gotch a belly to belly on the outside. English powerbombs Gable in the middle of the ring but Gable kicks out at 2. AA make a sneaky tag, with Jordan tagging himself back in. He drives into English in the corner, and then Gable tags back in for their double team finisher and the three count!

Winners and Number One Contenders: American Alpha
Time: 7:37

American Alpha celebrate in the middle of the ring as we go off the air. That's all the NXT action for this week!
