The Latest Update On Rey Mysterio and WWE

The latest on Rey Mysterio's contractual situation with WWE is that his current deal expired in the spring and he decided he would not re-sign with the company, but they opted to renewed his contract for another year without notifying him, using a clause that allows the company to renew talent deals based on time they might miss due to injury.

Mysterio reportedly met with Triple H sometime before the expiry and told him he would be leaving the company once his contract expires. Mysterio and Triple H reportedly agreed that both sides would be parting ways with handshake deal.  

In the weeks that followed, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon then had Mark Carrano of Talent Relations call Mysterio and notify him that WWE was invoking the clause in his contract, which keep him under contract to WWE for another year.This move upset Mysterio but there was little he could do about it. 

WWE had considered using Mysterio for SummerSlam promotional work but they opted against it as they didn't want him openly discussing his contractual status. Mysterio last week took it upon himself to appear in a video package during the AAA TripleMania pay-per-view event, upsetting WWE officials for suggested he would be appearing for AAA while under contract to them.
