WNS Fans View: WrestleMania 30 Predictions

Hello everybody and welcome to The Dog Pound! I am Vinny “Mad Dog” Fucci and I am inviting you all to sit back, relax, and enjoy my thoughts, musings, and ramblings related to the wrestling world. The WWE, and wrestling in general, has been a staple of my life for as long as I can remember. On Sunday April 6th, 2014, World Wrestling Entertainment will be embarking on not only their biggest show of the year, but a monumental milestone for Vince McMahon. This Sunday in New Orleans wrestling fans from all around the globe are invited to celebrate WrestleMania 30.

This sports entertainment entity has been a staple of my life. I wear wrestling t-shirts with pride and use catch phrases as if they are the ultimate insult. WrestleMania Sunday was always treated in equal of Super Bowl Sunday. Friends, food, and fake fighting took over the household television set with who’s going to win talk circumventing the room. This Sunday will be no different. In the meantime, let’s lay some ground here, have fun, and try not to Cap-Lock Dropkick anybody in discussion.

WrestleMania 30

Mercedes-Benz Superdome

New Orleans, Louisiana

April 6th, 2014

Pre-Show Match:

Fatal Four Way Tag Team Match- WWE Tag Team Championship

The Usos (c) Vs. Los Matadores Vs. The Real Americans Vs. Ryback/Curtis Axel

Having this match on the Kickoff portion of the show sort of bothers me. There’s a more deserving title for this spot but we’ll get there soon enough. Besides Ryback/Axel and the Matadores, the Usos and Americans have been busting their tails for months now. They should be main card appropriate but alas, it sits as another title opener much like the Intercontinental title was last year between Miz and Barrett. In what could become a trend, I see the Usos dropping the tag belts and the Americans walking away as the new tag team champions.

Prediction: And NEW WWE Tag Team Champions, The Real Americans

Main Card

(Matches in no specific order)

Daniel Bryan Vs. Triple H (Winner goes to the main event)

I believe this match will go first. Not because the winner will have to wrestle later but it would be a shadow of Bret Hart’s WrestleMania 10 set-up. Bryan obviously won’t lose but after months of being beaten down by The Authority, screwed over, and dogged on every twist and turn, this is the place for him to get revenge, shine, and truly be given the ball. Triple H is the first order of business and on this night for Daniel Bryan, business is good.

Prediction: Daniel Bryan

Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal

A 30-man Over-The-Top Battle Royal on a WrestleMania card. I can dig it. It looks as if the WWE is looking to establish something with this gimmick but the only gimmick that works was the Gimmick Battle Royal at WrestleMania 17. In any case, there are 3 spots open for a surprise entrant, with one of the entrants rumored to be RVD. Ok. The other two? Maybe the Ultimate Warrior has one more bump in him and Jake Roberts might get his rumble wish after all.  As far as the winner goes…

Prediction: Big E

(Hulk Hogan will hesitate to hand over the trophy and challenge Big E on the spot for it. One Wind-Up Punch and a pinfall, Hulkamania FOREVER RULES, brother! I joke.)

The Shield Vs. Kane & The New Age Outlaws

After months of speculation, The Shield got on the show without involving themselves in a Triple Threat match or Dean Ambrose in a unification match with Big E. The second year in a row, The Shield come onto the Wrestlemania stage as a unit still strong and not yet divided. On the other side, Kane teams with WWF Attitude alumni, The New Age Outlaws, because… the Outlaws wanted to work with The Shield before they broke up. Fair enough and while I think this is a good old school vs. new school six-man tag, I think for The Shield to break up isn’t for them to lose but to win. How long can they go dominating teams before each member wants their own individual success?

Prediction: The Shield

Vickie Guerrero Divas Championship Invitational

Here is your Kickoff match. When was the last time the Divas title had any substance? Maybe I don’t pay attention on Raw to make notice but I don’t see the point of this at all other then to do the obligatory Diva fill for Mania and oh yeah, Total Divas. Timing couldn’t be better for AJ Lee. She is just about at that time where the cards are stacked against her and she’s (rumored to be) newly engaged to CM Punk. Some leopards never really change their spots and I think Vince still does thing’s in spite, so in spite of all this, AJ’s lengthy reign comes to an end.

Prediction: And NEW WWE Divas Champion, Natalya

John Cena Vs. Bray Wyatt

This feud has been put together really well. Bray is an exceptional talent when it comes to talking and this isn’t John Cena’s first rodeo. In fact, this match is to make Bray but one that he will not win. John Cena has a pretty good record at the big show (7-3) with his most recent losses coming from ‘Mania 27 and ‘Mania 28. Though wins and loses don't matter much in professional wrestling, an important one is ready to be dissected next so hear me out. I’m not a fan of John Cena but I do respect him as a wrestling fan. I like Bray Wyatt and there is potential for his character to evolve with a loss to the WWE Superman. This is a comic book battle of Good Vs. Evil where the good guy must win. I expect Bray to bounce back just fine.

Prediction: John Cena

 The Undertaker Vs. Brock Lesnar

The Streak is the biggest title on the line at WrestleMania. With twenty-one wins and no loses over his storied career, the Undertaker takes on The Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar, and how plodding has the build up for this been? With no rhyme or reason, the Undertaker interrupted Paul Heyman’s proclamation that Brock deserves to be challenging for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and bought this match upon himself. Since the kickoff for this feud, it’s been blah, blah, watered down Undertaker hocus-pocus and an F5. I wish there was more story behind it but somewhere along the lines, it got lost in the words of “Streak”. The most vaunted fictional winning column in history will stay in tact for another year.

Prediction: The Undertaker

Triple Threat Match- WWE World Heavyweight Championship

Randy Orton (c) Vs. Batista Vs. Daniel Bryan

I was going to be funny and put Triple H over but in order for the WWE to capitalize on the popularity of Bryan, you pull the trigger and you pull it at WrestleMania. Randy Orton has been coasting as champion and Batista’s return has pretty much spoken for itself. Daniel Bryan has been hot for a long time now and fans are chomping at the bit as to when he’ll win the strap. WrestleMania is meant to make stars and pass the torch. Hogan, Savage, Warrior, Hart, Austin, Rock, Cena, they all have made names for themselves on the big stage of WrestleMania. Daniel Bryan is a workhorse with a phenomenal fan base and outside of a storyline standpoint, is due for a run. If you look at the story line, DB has been in the thick of this since Summer Slam and the grace period of major PPV’s have done him well.  Everything will come full circle. Daniel Bryan is winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania because he is that damn good.

Prediction: And NEW WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Daniel Bryan

WrestleMania in my WWE2K14 looked nothing like this card but there are a lot of bodies stuffed into matches. One match has a good story behind it while the other is only passable because of its importance in WWE history. The Word title picture shaped up Ok but I think their hand was pretty much forced between Bryan’s crazy popularity and Batista’s not-so-much popularity. I was in attendance for WrestleMania last year and give that thumbs up only because there’s nothing like being in a live crowd but even then, it was a glorified Raw with Raw the next night actually being the better show! In any case, I’ll be watching and while I am indeed a Triple H fan, I hope that Bryan wins the championship.

Leave comments, snides, and thoughts at the bottom. Enjoy the mania of wrestling and until next time, feeding time is over, close the kennel doors, and I’ll howl at you later.
