USA Network Take a Shot at Spike TV - Ratings Reactions

Posted by: Wrestling-Radio.com

- USA Network's VP of Program Research, Ted Linhart, tweeted: "Not much of a Monday Night "War". RAW trounced TNA by 275% w/ total viewers. Also Impact much lower than the test Monday ep in early Jan."

- SpikeTV are said to happy with the 1.0 rating as they held the 18-34 demo and saw no drop off to a Thursday rating.

So a VP feeling proud of doing that much better than TNA has no right to gloat, yet its acceptable for TNA to make jibes and aggressive comments towards WWE and its acceptable? thats hypocracy at its finest, this is the first time anything negative has come out of WWE's corner toward TNA and now all the TNA fans are in an uproar? i'm sorry but seriously...fuck you guys thats just pathetic...
United States nWo4Life Mar 12th, 2010 01:03PM
Before Jan. 4th I hadn't watched wrestling on regular basis since WWE bought out WCW in 2001 and turned everything into a big joke. Raw hasn't really been able to hold my interest for more than 5 minuets in the last 8 or 9 years, however TNA iMPACT this week was the best thing I’ve seen come out of a Monday night wrestling show since Monday Nitro on May 27th 1996 where Scott Hall made his first appearance in WCW. Now was it as good? Not even close, but way better than anything WWE has offered up lately and defiantly on the right track. And I know I’m not the only person who has reconnected with wrestling because of TNA. The more exposure they get the higher the ratings will get and anybody who thinks that TNA would suddenly be at WWE's ratings is mentally challenged. Nitro didn't start out on top but eventually beat Raw's ratings 80+ weeks in a row. So basically what I can say to the haters is it doesn't matter what the ratings are right now, all you WWE fanboys know what's coming and your scared.
United States THG Mar 11th, 2010 07:03PM
err... 3.3-3.6 is shitty, meanwhile you are lauding 1.0 ratings? You think that Lamborghini is impressive? Check out my VW Bug.... ??
Malaysia CoolBee Mar 11th, 2010 03:03AM
Hopefully in about a year's time, this guy is gonna look like a total moron for poking at TNA. I can already picture a "BREAKING NEWS:TNA iMPACT BEATS MONDAY NIGHT RAW!" headline here on WrestlingRadio. And btw, USA Network knows how it felt to host the No.2 wrestling show, & that feeling prolonged for 80 plus weeks! So instead of poking fun, USA & WWE should be working on getting the 1 million plus people that tune in to iMPACT over to RAW, so RAW doesn't stay at a shitty 3.3-3.6 all the time.

I could care less about a USA Network exec being unprofessional or not. It's actually funny that he acknowledged TNA since TNA ins't supposed to even be worth mentioning, right? I don't understand why hardcore WWE fans get so defensive anyways. I'm a TNA fan, and have been since day one, but I'm realistic enough to know it's going to take a long time just for them to break a 2.0 rating, but so what? I was a WCW fan as well-actually right until the day Vince bought them, then I didn't watch wrestling for quite some time because it sucked simply not having an alternative if there was an 'off' night. At least now we have that alternative, and I probably actually only watched about 2 mins of RAW the other night simply because it sucked so badly, and TNA did a good job of holding my attention. TNA has a lot of work ahead of them, they have a lot of kinks to work out, and they need to be weary of not repeating history, but for right now anyways why don't we all just sit back, relax, and enjoy taking in all of the gossip, rumors, and excitement that this has caused-that we haven't had for about 9 years.
United States RexVanDam Mar 10th, 2010 03:03PM
THG I agree!! Go Bret Hart! oh and BTW thanks a pile for makeing my hero RVD look like crap! WWE never did they even gave him 2 world belts, but chronic prevailed and he was suspended and then his wife got cancer so he left WWE. TNA you SUCK BAD! What a waste to get RVD and then to blow it!
United States THG Mar 10th, 2010 03:03PM
Oh, and one more thing. Isn't it funny how TNA Fanboys sit here and cry how unprofessional Ted Linhart was for his comment? When most of the management and writing reflect potshots at the WWE? Isn't that... cute?
United States RVDKing26 Mar 10th, 2010 02:03PM
I personally love how tons of people (including a VP at USA apparently) want to point the finger at this ONE night of television. We will see down the line how things pan out. TNA may get stronger, may become a competitor, and may even beat out WWE someday. Then again, it may never happen. But I have 3 thoughts to throw out there: 1) WCW was around for a quite awhile before picking up any steam. Then they eventually beat out WWF in the ratings 84 weeks in a row. Lightning CAN strike twice. 2) Just because one show has MORE people watching it doesn't necessarily make it the "better" show (which of course is individual object opinion, I know) 3) If one show wins or another wins. WHATEVER. At least now, fans who are tired of WWE's currently stale product have something else to watch, veteran wrestlers who have been misused or underutilized (i.e. RVD, Ken Anderson) can get more of a spotlight, and TALENTED young stars have more room to grow and shine as well (i.e. The Pope D'Angelo Dinero is the best example of that. That dude will go far.) Yes, I'm TNA biased at the moment if you didn't catch it. Probably because I've always been a fan of actual professional wrestling and edginess as opposed to punch-kick-punch-body slam-finishing move and a lame PG rating. "I will kick your BUTT." Wow, exciting...
United States Fozzitude Mar 10th, 2010 02:03PM
It really is not much of a "War" like so many are calling it. Yes, Monday nights for wrestling fans are starting to get better, but it will NEVER match what came about from the original war of RAW vs. Nitro. TNA fans are very hopeful and that is fine, but they are also very delusional if they think TNA is going to top WWE anytime soon.
United States Adam Mar 10th, 2010 02:03PM
I find it funny how people who are obviously in the business incessantly refer to wrestling fans in a condescending way as 'marks', even though they are fans as well or else they wouldn't be in the business-no matter what they say. Go TNA, by the way.
United Kingdom TheUnAmerican Mar 10th, 2010 02:03PM
Re: Crystal TNA have never mentioned WWE ever. Ever!
United States Toriegh D Mar 10th, 2010 01:03PM
Well that was unprofessional on his part, but whatever, I like most people are willing to watch TNA, just not on monday's personally I hate turning back and forth!
United States THG Mar 10th, 2010 01:03PM
It's funny how many TNA marks are doing everything they can to justify and/or turn the abysmal ratings of 3/8 against the WWE. The Jr Varsity team at your local public college thought they could handle a professional team - they lost. Big time. And worse yet they lost using tactics and strategies from 10-15 years ago. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
United States Crystal Mar 10th, 2010 01:03PM
I think a VP of program research should be more professional than that. I seem to see more negativity on the WWE side which leads me to believe that they might be more worried than they are leading on. They are basically saying to all WWE fans "we have no respect for you, as we will continue to run the same shit over and over and over again and treat you as if you have no intelligence what so ever" Like I said all this TNA bashing is appalling!! I work and live at a bar/restaurant with another place (a lot like ours) across the street. We treat each other with dignity and respect and honor the competition.
United States ali Mar 10th, 2010 01:03PM
tna should have stay on thursdays, cause wwe will kill them in the ratings
